This quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupery taps into both the mystery and majesty of water. Water is life. To understand water means to understand our past, our present, and our future. Without water, humans would cease to exist.
Most of the Earth’s surface is covered in water. Water is a part of our everyday lives. We drink water, we bathe in it, we use it to grow our food, and we play in water. Today, our precious resource of water is being abused, and many humans are without sufficient drinking water in order to survive. As a member of our global community, it is important for students to understand the vitality, importance, and structures of water. In gaining knowledge about water, students can better understand themselves and their world.
